Hello there,
Thank you for stopping by!
I’m Ankita. I exist like the trees planted by my ancestors—roots delving deeper into the soil, as my new buds bloom, soaring towards the sky. Poetic much? Well, poems never die.
In my joyous journey of boldly venturing into the wild—quite literally, I have produced hundreds of pieces of writing across various formats, which alongside spreading sunshine online, can also be found collected together on this web address—in case they no longer embarrass me, alright? But then, if I cringe over what I wrote five years ago, maybe I have grown all the while.
You can find my work, including essays, features, anchor videos—and you know it—poems, on culture, society, intersectionality, history, family, mental health, relationships, food and—of course—self-love, listed on this website. Some of these pieces have also been converted to audiobooks.
My newsletter has a section to share information about writing opportunities. Why? Well, have you ever been that person who doesn’t get to know about an opportunity that you would certainly want to apply to until you suddenly see someone else posting about winning the same? You’re happy for them, but you wish you could have registered, too? This newsletter will bring you a weekly list of curated creative opportunities as well as random advice ranging from haircare to room decor—because instead of “I have to wash my hair again”, we go “My hair deserves to be bathed and nurtured with nutrients and fragrance,” and instead of “I need to clean my messy room”, we look at “I deserve a clean and calming space.”
I have won the UNFPA South Asia Laadli Media Award and the UNFPA Regional Laadli Media Award 2024.
I have also worked as an English educator for Eklavya India Foundation. Previously, I have worked as an Assistant Editor writing weekly articles and ground reports, penning scripts and shooting videos, taking interviews and managing a community of around 1000+ writers.
In the past, aside from finally overcoming my impostor syndrome, I have worked as a Copywriter for a leaf history of time while knowing throughout in the book of my mind that my textual tension with long-form is, as essaying goes, beyond my need to ink twice and in fact, love at first write. Anyway, enough with bragging writes, I’ll now roll out the read carpet and for better or verse, focus on making my life a bed of proses.
To offer me writing work or to send appreciation or advice, you can find me at ankitaapurva63@gmail.com. To keep up with the aesthetic behind-the-scenes documentation of my life and to read my unfiltered takes on how the world can cultivate cumulative positive vibes, you can follow me on Instagram. And you must definitely subscribe to my newsletter on Substack.
Criticism, meanwhile, should be written on a pastel pink, single-lined scrap of paper and tied to the feet of a consenting pigeon before their flight. They tell me everything, alright?
Thank you for reading,
Ankita
